This component is based on the design of instruction itself, which is pivotal to student learning. Good instruction should be tailored to fit the learning styles of students. The lesson plan should be the foundation of instruction, and should reflect state standards and learning goals. Learning should be engaging for the student, but not merely entertaining. All activities should be directed toward relevant goals, and student choice should be a consideration. Additionally, when groups of students are created, this is done mindfully with the intention of encouraging collaboration. Any materials used by the students should match the purpose of the lesson and be suitable for the task that they were chosen for.
